X-Y Plot

Description
Usage Note

The X-Y Plot is a tool designed for use by simulation engineers and maintenance technicians. It is not intended to support the instructional process.
General Description
The X/Y Plot and Time Based Plot are used in a maintenance/debugging mode to create graphs of any variable accessible to the IOS. The X/Y Plot has the ability to graph a single variable on each axis. The Time Based Plot, though, has time fixed on the x-axis and up to five (5) variables on the y-axis.

Each of these pages has a similar layout. Besides the plotting region, buttons exist on both pages to start/stop plotting and to clear the plot. Both pages also contain a legend area that shows what is being plotted, the color of the plot, the axis, and the minimum and maximum for the variable. For time, the minimum is fixed at zero and the maximum is user selectable. More about the time maximum in a moment.

Next to the legend are three buttons--Add, Change, and Delete. The Add button will display the same popup/overlay/child window for both pages to enter information about an x or y variable. The Change button displays the same dialog initialized to the currently selected variable in the legend. And, the Delete button will simply remove the currently selected variable from the legend, and thus, from being plotted. For the X/Y Plot, deleting a variable will stop plotting. For the Time Based Plot, deleting the x-axis variable,
Time, will also stop plotting.

Unlike the X/Y Plot, the Time Based Plot also has a mode selection. In Stop mode, data will stop being plotted when the maximum time is reached. No wrapping will occur. The x-axis will show 0 on the left and the Time maximum on the right.

In Erase mode, the x-axis will still show 0 and maximum when plotting is started. However, when the Time maximum is reached, the entire graph will be erased and the x-axis will show the previous right "maximum" on the left and the previous right "maximum" plus the Time maximum on the right. For example, if the plot showed 0 on the left and 40 on the right, then when 40 is reached, the plot would show 40 and 80.
