The
Microburst Model controls the chosen microburst scenario. The named scenarios, such as "Denver", only refer to the wind profiles in those models; they do not reposition the simulated aircraft to that named airport. The available scenarios include:
- Kennedy 1975
- New Orleans Takeoff
- Generic Headwind and Crosswind
- Denver 1984 / Tucson 1977
- JAWS Course
- Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW)
The
DFW microburst is special in that it may be repositioned to several points on the airport, as described below. The other microburst models are not repositionable, but rather occur at predetermined places on the airport.
The
Intensity ComboBox allows the selection of the relative strength of the chosen microburst, from zero to 200% of the usual value.
The
Microburst Position control sets the relative position of the microburst on the airport for the DFW microburst model only. There are five locations for the microburst on the landing end of the runway, and three possible locations for the microburst on the departure end of the runway.
The
Microburst Enable button arms or deactivates the chosen microburst scenario. The scenario is triggered when the simulated aircraft reaches a specific point on the airport.
| Note: The microburst scenario applies to any airport, and there is only one microburst scenario available at any time. In other words, the Sortie File does not set up individual microburst scenarios for individual airports. |
