The Malfunction Description GroupBox is automatically updated when a new malfunction selection is made. The information displayed consists of the Cause and Effects for the selected malfunction.
Immediate Activation

Select the Immediate Activation Radio Button to enable the Activate or Deactivate Malfunction Button and the Clear All Malfunctions Button. Once these buttons are enabled, select the Activate Malfunction Button to immediately activate the current malfunction or the Deactivate Malfunction Button to immediately deactivate the current malfunction.

Preselect Conditions for Activation

Select the Preselect Conditions for Activation Radio Button to enable the ComboBoxes, EditBoxes, Arm or Disarm Preselect Button and the Clear All Preselects Button.

After selecting the malfunction and before pressing the Arm Preselect button, conditions for the automatic activation of the malfunction can be entered using the three rows of ComboBoxes and EditBoxes.

The first row has two ComboBoxes and one EditBox. Use the first ComboBox to select a variable, like Airspeed, then use the second ComboBox to select the condition, like Less Than or Greater Than, then use the EditBox to enter the value to compare the variable with.

On the second row there is a ComboBox. If a complex automatic activation condition is desired, use the ComboBox to select either AND or OR to link the two conditions defined in the first and third rows. If a complex automatic activation condition is not desired, leave the ComboBox blank.

The third row looks and is used just like the first row.

After the desired preselect information is entered, select the Arm Preselect Button.

Note: If the currently selected malfunction is already armed, then the ComboBoxes and EditBoxes will show the current preselected conditions. Use the Disarm Preselect Button to disarm the currently selected malfunction or use the Clear All Preselects Button to disarm all Armed malfunctions. Once an armed malfunction becomes active, the conditions that caused its activation are no longer shown.
